Our list of top higher education presidents and chancellors who use social media to engage, foster, educate, challenge, inspire, entertain and amplify is out.

The ED Marketing Agency list of Top Higher Education Presidents on Social Media for 2023 is:

“I can say that without question, social media has produced real engagement and real connection with our students, with prospective students, with our alums, with people at other higher education institutions,” said top awardee, President Daniel Myers, who credits a 60 percent jump in prospective students inquiring about Misericordia University over the past year to a variety of enhanced marketing and admissions efforts, not the least of which is his multi-channel social media push.

The juried competition is the only one of its kind in the U.S. and Canada to annually recognize higher education presidents who achieve social media excellence.

“There are many communications and marketing approaches that a university, college or polytechnic can take to increase enrolment and retention, differentiate itself, sustain global shifts, and be competitive in a marketplace rife with non-academic options,” said Peter George, CEO of ED.

“But the school that can elevate that with a leader who uses social media to tell authentic stories and cultivate meaningful online connections with target audiences? Now that’s an edge very few schools have. We congratulate each well-deserving president and chancellor who earned a spot on ED’s top list this past year.”

Selected through a nomination process, these five visionary leaders clearly understand that social media is channel through which they can differentiate themselves and be heard, George adds.

“Every year we see exceptional higher education presidents, chancellors and CEOs who get that social media is not just about presence, it’s about purpose,” said Emily Clarke, jurist and ED Agile Content Creator. “Students want to be reached on platforms they frequent, and these leaders are doing just that.”
